Our Story

Team Bakker is a competitive Junior U21 Team based out of the National Training Centre at the Glencoe Club in Calgary, Alberta. We play on the U21 Alberta Junior Curling Tour (AJCT) and the World Curling Tour (WCT,) competing in U21 and Women’s bonspiels in Alberta and out of province!

In 2017/2018, Team Bakker ranked as the top U18 women’s team on the AJCT tour based on our bonspiel tour results. The highlight of the 2017/2018 Season was winning a Gold Medal at U18 Alberta Provincial Curling Championships and a Bronze Medal at U18 National Championships. In 2018/2019, we qualified for both U18 and U21 Provincials. We ranked in the top 8 teams on the U21 Alberta Junior Curling Tour standings thereby qualifying for AJCT Players’ Championship. We were also invited to and participated in the prestigious Curling Alberta Excel Program in the 2018/2019 Season. We are very humbled by our success and thankful for the support we received from so many to help us achieve these results.

As we head into 2019/2020, we welcome a new line-up. We have Ryleigh Bakker skipping, Ashton Skrlik playing third, Lisa Parent playing second, Julianna Mackenzie playing lead, and Jack Moss coaching. Amongst the four players of our 2019/2020 Season lineup, collectively we have: competed at 22 Alberta Provincial Championships; played in 8 Alberta Provincial Finals; won 4 Alberta Provincial Championships; competed at 5 National Championships; and, won 1 National Bronze Medal. We are excited for the upcoming season, as we pursue our ultimate goal of winning U21 Worlds for Canada as positive ambassadors for our country, our sport, our sponsors, and our community.
